Mayflower Town Crier – Terms & Conditions

The Mayflower Town Crier is a voluntary role to publicise and participate in events to celebrate Mayflower 400 in Plymouth.
The Mayflower Town crier will not have a formal civic role, but may be invited to attend civic events and ceremonies.
The role will start in November 2019 and continue through until November 2020, following the calendar of Mayflower 400 events & celebrations.
This position is open to anybody over the age of 18 who lives in the Plymouth area.
Applicants will be invited to attend an initial town crier workshop.
The final town crier competition will be held at the Guildhall on 25th July.
This free event will be open to the public and all are welcome.
We hope to appoint two individuals to allow flexibility to cover events.
The chosen Mayflower Town Criers will be provided with individually designed Town Crier regalia.
You will be expected to appear in various parts of the city to publicise Mayflower events as a traditional Town Crier at certain agreed times & places – minimum of 3? hours per week, maximum of 9? hours per week – maybe define as hours per month
You will be encouraged to compose your individual cries using information provided about Mayflower 400 events.
You will be invited to take part in special events during the Mayflower 400 celebrations.
These dates will be notified well in advance & you will be expected to commit to attending on those dates or giving plenty of notice if this is not possible.
This is an unpaid, voluntary role.
